Which should be the wireless access point?

I have an Asus rt-n56u as my main router and want to expand the network. I am looking to purchase an asus rt-n66u connect it by cable and use it as a WAP. Is this the right way round i,e which should be the main router? The WAP will connect to all of my key media i.e TV, Apple TV etc.

I,m a bit puzzled why you are considering a second router when you seem to want a range extender such as this

Configuring a second router as an access point can be done but is tricky as thats not what they are intended for.

My reservation re the extender mentioned is that the "related products" section at the bottom refers to the N66 but dont see why it should not work with the N56 but I would check.

There are plenty of WAPs out there other than ASUS.

The configuration of a WAP is pretty simple and the last thing I want is a range extender as they cut the throughput by 50%.
