Which server to run an epos system

I have 6 workstations networked to three buildings on a farm. I would like to buy a server to run an EPOS system and a CRM system. At the moment one of our workstations acts as the server which is not ideal, all the new server needs to do is to run 2 software packages (EPOS & CRM) I have experience with our peer to peer network but I am not sure what I need here, perhaps just another workstation dedicated as a server would do? any advice would be welcome.

A dedicated workstation would do the job if the shared one your using at the moment copes, but it really depends on how many tills you are connecting to your epos system, if three or more then to do the job properly I would recommend a pc with a fast processor (P4 or Athlon64), at least 512Mb of ram, this would be a bare minimum and two large hard drives in a raid configuration.
