Hi everyone,

can anyone tell me which one of these machine is faster please.

Intel Pentium Dual Core E2200 (2.2GHz) 800MHz FSB 1Mb Cache
4.0GB 800MHz NON-ECC DDRII Memory (2*2GB)
250GB (7200Rpm) Serial ATAII 3Gb/s

Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 (2.93GHz) 1066MHz FSB 3Mb Cache
2048MB (2x1024) 800MHz DDR2 Dual Channel
160GB 7200RPm SATA

many thanks

the core 2 duo should be the fastest of the 2 because of its later technology and memory. The trouble with most multi core processors is if the software is not designed for multi core work then it may not run efficiently on the other cores. Also if operating on a 32 bit system this cannot make use of more than about 3.4 GB of ram. This could run slower with 4GB that with 3GB.

No difference from what you quoted
As no info on graphics cards

Download speed and streaming will be depenant on your ISP, linespeeds, how busy the serve is at the time and other factors you can do nothing about.

As howard64 states, the E7500 PC will be faster in theory, but it may all come down to what you'll be using it for.

If it's relatively low-level activities: like browsing the Internet, writing emails, running office programs, basic photo-editing & similar, the E2200 PC would be my choice especially if its cost was lower. Because for these activities, the user will find very little to no difference in speed. And the E2200 PC's greater RAM may offset any advantages the E7500 has over it.

Is there a price difference between the two, & by how much? G

Sorry, I was typing my post when you guys already posted!

But again, I'd say little to no difference.

What graphics cards do they have? G

Hi guys

it just say Intel video so I presumed its share graphic and the price difference is only £30.

my main usage is for EPOS business software.

many thanks

Yes, either will be fine again kimisam.

But if the E2200 PC is the one that's £30 less, that'll clinch it for me. For basic activities, I'd take more RAM & hard drive space over a better CPU. G
