hi, i've recently installed a dvd rw (NEC 3520) in place of my dvd rom. i wonder now if it was a better idea to replace the cd writer instead?does a dvd rom allow for 'on the fly' copying combined with the dvd writer? the cd writer is a samsung CD-R/RW SW-240B and the dvd rom is compaq SD-616
i use a lite on dvd rom and a dvd writer and I can copy on the fly. I would take out the cdrw and use the dvd rom and the dvd writer.
Keep whichever one has the faster speed.
dvd rom reads cd's at max speed 48* and dvd's at 16*cd rw reads cd's at 40*.that was easy! using the advice of both it decides on keeping the dvd rom....now i have to open up the pc again! never mind, i like doing it reallycheers guys
