which hard drive

hi i am looking for a new sata hard drive the one i have in this pc is only 80g all other 5 in my home network are 160 i would like to go to 300-350 what make would you recommend or not recommend
and is sata better than ide

First off I would go for 500Gb minimum click here, as the price is the same as 320Gb - see click here. Even consider 1Tb (1000Gb), which is only £12 extra - see click here.

SATA is better, but more importantly (for me anyway), cheaper as well - e.g. a 500Gb IDE drive is almost double the price click here.

For storage the more efficient 5400rpm drivers will be fine, otherwise get 7200rpm. I'm not sure your motherboard will support SATAII/SATA2 drives & large hard drives. But these can be remedied by other means though, so may not be an issue. G
