which format for sending CVs

Hi,
I recently sent some CVs out in office 2007, two got back to me saying they couldn't open them, can I go to save as and save my CV in a format that can be opened by anyone regardless of what pc or software they use.

Save as Rich Text (.rtf).

VoG, When I go to 'save as' I can see rich text without the (.rtf). is that o.k.

If you use OpenOffice.org, a free download, you can export documents as pdf files

If you don't have a pdf convertor install one (like CutePDF - click here). They install as a printer. To convert your Word doc (or any other file for that matter) just chose to print to the convertor from the print dialogue box in the parent application.
