BT inform me that I will be able to get BB in Feb 05 at 2000 Mbps (via fibre optic)Is there any advantage having 1000 Mbs or 2000 Mbs over 512 kbps for general surfing ?

that would much rather depend on how much you are prepared to pay for these services

Compared with dial-up, even the 5 times BB is wonderful and don't forget your telephone is there all the time.

I think 10 times is worth it (to me) though the gain is in downloading, rather than browsing times

Beyond that, is for commercial or "must have people" and the cost/use equation (for me) no longer makes sense.

I'm on NTL cable at £17.99 a month and that is adequate for browsing and downloading. The only time I notice a bottleneck is with streaming media, where it is on the limit of what is comfortable.
