Where to start

Having a problem connecting to the internet through pc, when I try ie 7 connection diagnostic it says I have a problem with Winsock and would I like it to reset them to default, it then says that a restart is needed to do this when I restart it takes a few attempts to restart get an error message lsass.exe system error endpoint format is invalid.
Running xp sp2, Pentium 4 3GHz

Run your Anti-Virus and Spyware programs just to be in the safe side,There is a Trojan with a similar name.Someone will probably explain the difference.

When did the problem start? What antivirus and antispyware software do you use?

GO to start menu/Run

Type SFC /scannow (space between c and /)

into run box click ok - windows will scan and replace corrupt system files (have your xp CD handy)
