Suddenly, we have no system sound nor does isp sound or website sound work...yet wmp plays mp3's and videos with full sound ok.Nothing amiss in Device Manager and sound is enabled with icon in system tray.System Restores made no difference....Any clues how I might fix this?
Right click the icon in the taskbar and select 'open volume control'Check the sliders and that the mute does not have a tick in it...
Yep sound is enabled like I said.
Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices, Sounds tab, Sound Scheme drop down - make sure 'No sounds' is not selected.
Yep Windows Default selected.
While you are in there have you tried clicking on one of the Windows sounds and clicking the Play button (>).
Yes, strange thing is only Windows logon and logoff produce any sounds.
