When microsoft ends it's updates for XP

I am happy with XP and will be using it for the next three years.
I recently had cause to repair my Windows installation and it went well.
I had to re download all the updates from the Microsoft site....some 30 in total, also with no problem.
If this happens, after Microsoft finishes with it's support of XP, where can I go to reload the updates that were available prior to Microsoft ending it's support,or can I some how save them on another drive prior to the possible repair of my Windows installation.
I hope this makes sense.

You can use AutoPatcher:

or

It would be worth saving them to a CD-R used in multisession form to keep them up to date.

Of course, if you have a properly coordinated backup scheme, you should never need to re-install windows - just re-install the last backup, and you'll have a fully updated, all programs and data incorporated working system.

Acronis True Image will do that for you quite painlessly.
