I am very interested in getting a new HD television 37-42 inch in size. Is the Panasonic Viera better than the Sony Bravia range or are the better alternatives?

In my opinion the Sony Bravia picture is better than the Panasonic Viera, but I recommend that you go to a store that can demonstrate both. I went to my local branch of Comet before I made my choice. I found the best price was here click here.

Looks like plasma wins! Def visit showroom and read reviews before purchase.

Big difference in power usage a 42" Plasma uses about 500 Real Watts you can feel the heat off the screen. Half a Kw

Power consumption Plasma TVs are power hungry and consume far more energy than rival TV technologies. A 42-inch screen consumes on average 250 watts of power. 1/4 Kw ;-)
Depends what you read. Better not sit too close to tv or you will burn :-0

The Panasonic LCD and plasma TVs, especially the latest models, deliver the best possible display qualities currently available on the UK market.

The TV you choose may not be 'Full' High Definition. This may only be available on 42" screens and larger.
