I am planning on laying my adsl cable (RJ11 connectors, 15metres long) from the phone socket to the modem/router under some new floors that are being fitted. What is the fastest/best type of cable I can get, as I won't be able to change it for many many years once the floors go down.

I've just bought a Belkin 0.9 metre Ethernet cable at Poundland, which has proved to boost my TalkTalk connection speed by up to seven MB (6.5MB minimum to around 7.2MB).

Not bad for a quid...:-)

One supplier of longer length Belkin cables is:

Belkin is a noted name in this area.

Wire I used came from B&Q multi strand Phone wire, mine also is a very long wire. I do not have no problems with it. I Just use two wires for ADSL and two for Phone. Still using Filters where they are needed. double plugs and sockets at each end

My Phone that is farthest away is about 150ft, Router about 120ft
