What is a system disk?

Posted a thread about Recycling a Soltek SL75Kav motherboard.
Have made some progress, but after setting the cmos with correct time and date and verifying that it recognises the Maxtor 30Gb hard drive it asks for the system disk.
What is this?
Is it for the board - for which I have nothing - or is it related to the Win XP Pro loaded on the drive?
I have the original Hard drive, which is also XP Pro, but will not function.

Put the xp cd disk in and boot from the cd, try a repatr or do a clean install.

This problem happens when the BIOS cannot find the boot sector or the master boot record is missing or damaged

The BIOS searches drives in order specified in the CMOS setup. This is usually (but not always, see your settings..) A Floppy C Hard Drive. The error will occur during start up if the CMOS is set so that the BIOS seeks the floppy first and a non system floppy was left in the drive.

Other reasons include
The CMOS settings are incorrect
The hard drive is defective
There is no bootable partition on the hard drive
Defective floppy or floppy disk
A Virus

Ensure BIOS is set to look in the right order
Create a floppy boot disk with Acronis or similar
Use a windows disk in the cd drive

If you changed the Motherboard and used the sam Operating System Hard Drive. It will be setup with Drivers for the old Motherboard. So if you cannot boot to windows you need to put a XP CD in the computer start comp with it and do a Repair, Not Consol
