what so you lose when you use system restore?

  charlton200 20:06 10 Sep 2003

i have just used my system restore.

now i thought that by using it i would have losed the letter i wrote and saved today and also the work i done on my new web site as i forgot to back them up.

it just makes me wonder if it did really restore to 3 days earlier even though it said the restore was successfully.

( i had the system busy box come up half way though system restore and when i clicked on end task i thought it would fail but it didn't)
do you think it went ok and should the letter etc. still be there?

Your personal files and settings remain intact - one of the big advantages of System Restore over GoBack.

System restore removes any programs/Windows settings/etc. that have been installed since the time of the date you restore to.

I suppose the only way you will really find out, is to see whether the problem that caused you to use System Restore, happens again.

It only restores system files.

Your Word documents, e-mails and so on will not be lost.
