What 'services' can i disable+what can't i?

Hi, im trying to disable as many services as possible that i don't need but my problem is that i don't know what certain ones do(i know there is text in 'services' that briefly explain what does what but i want to know in layman's terms)! Please can anyone help me if i list a few?
1,Remote Desktop Help session manager (manual)
2,Remote Procedure Call (automatic)
3,Remote Procedure Call Locator (manual)
4,Removable Storage (manual)
5,Routing and remote access (disabled)
6,Secondry Logon (automatic)
7,Securite accounts manager (automatic)

Hi, i can only find windowx xp service pack 3, is there help for service pack 2? (sorry for this!)

SP3 is basically SP2 plus updates since it was first issuled.

You should have downloaded SP3 anyway. Without it there are a number of potential problems that you may be exposed too.
