What security do I need for a tablet?

I have just bought a Bush My Tablet from Argos, after reading reviews on this site. Since I have never owned a tablet, what security do I need to be able to surf and access my e-mail accounts safely?

I should add that this is a Windows 8 tablet and that I have fibre optic broadband with pin numbers to get online via my I.S.P. But there is no firewall built into the router. For my main computer usage I have a laptop with Norton Internet Security and could in theory add that security suite to one more device.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Windows 8 will have its own firewall

NIS?

If your tablet runs Windows RT 8.1 then the answer is no... If it runs Windows Pro 8.1 then the answer is yes...

The reason for this is explained at the following Microsoft website:

"What's the difference between Windows RT 8.1 and Windows 8.1?"

This is a basic tablet which I will only use infrequently when travelling. According to the control panel info, the Windows edition is "Windows 8.1 with Bing" @ 2013. It has a 32 bit operating system, v64 based processor. As far as I can see there is no security in-built.

Can you advise?
