HiIm running my main PC with Vista Home Premium connected to Virgin Broadband.I have a second PC sittin next to first PC running XP Professional. I want to Network these PC's together, then have 2 monitors on my desk, and use the Synergy programme to run 2 Networked PC's with one keyboard and mouse. As the PC's are side by side I feel a wired connection would be best. Is that correct? What equipment would I need to Network them to Virgin Broadband. All help/advice be much appreciated.Si67.

You need to get a Cable/DSL wireless router that you connect to the Ethernet port on thecable modemD-Link 54Mbps Wireless Broadband Routerclick hereBuffalo Wireless-G 125Mbps High Speed Broadband Routerclick hereCable Modem To Router Set-UpPower everything off, including the Cable Modem, which must be left without power for15 minutesThis is IMPORTANT so that it loses the association between the existing connections(recognised by its MAC address) and the IP address that it has allocated to it.Connect an Ethernet Cable between the router's WAN Port and the Cable Modem's Ethernet Port.Connect a second Ethernet Cable from the PC's network card and Port 1 of theRouter's LAN PortsPower on the Cable Modem when fully booted with all lights displayedPower on the Router when the router is fully up and runningPower on the computer and wait until it is fully booted upThe Cable Modem will recognise a new connection and allocate an IP address to the routerTake a read of the router manual first before trying to set up routerJust check the LAN card and the network connection on the laptop is set up correctclick hereNow launch your web browser and type the Router's IP address access code, which youwill find in the manual, into the browser address barThis will open the configuration pages to set up the router and wireless networking
