I have used Office 2000 for some time now. I am wanting to buy a new laptop which has Win xp but cannot stretch extra £200-£300 for Office 2003 (understand Office 2000 cannot run on Win xp anyway ?) Finding that Works V8 is often "bundled" with new laptops and it is quite cheap to buy anyway - but:
Can I happily receive and read Excel 2003 Word 2003 doc by email?
Can my Works V8 spread sheets and word docs be read by any Office 2000/2003 user by email ?
Not too bothered about Powerpoint - It's Excel and Word which are the issue.
All this is for my business use so i need to be sure??!!
As far as I'm aware there isn't a problem running Office 2000 with Windows XP.
The spreadsheet and word processor applications in Microsoft Works are very basic in comparison with Excel and Word. They can open simple files created in Excel/Word as long as the documents don't include any features that Works doesn't support. For example, the Works spreadsheet is only a single sheet applcation, it doesn't support multiple sheets in a Workbook as Excel does.
Microsoft Works "SUITE" actually includes MS Word, but the basic Works only has its own word processor. Neither version includes Excel.
