What does the DVI port in some graphics card do? can you input and output video? What about audio?

It allows you to connect a TFT monitor which has a DVI input.

DVI = Digital Video out

It's an output from the card to the monitor. It's a complete digital path, gives a better display on the monitor.

Only output video.

No input and nothing to do with sound.
