What does disk Defragmenter actualy do?
What does it mean by rearranging all of your files?

When you save and edit files and then re save it, bits go everywhere on the hard disk. Disk defragmenter puts them back together.

It's similar to having 100 tiles numbered 1 - 100, then mixing them up on the floor and being asked to get tiles 34-50, which will take some time. Then putting the tiles in order then finding the same tiles. It’s quicker the second time.
That's similar to what defragging does. it put the programs your hard drive uses in the best order for fastest reading which should speed read times up. With fast modern hard drives it's such a great issue as it was but I feel well worth doing.

Defragmentation is worth doing at least once a month minimum for the reasons posted here. If you do not download or install too many new programmes stretch to 6 weeks. If your memory is not too high go back to 4 weeks.
I`m assuming XP, so if you have less than 512Mbs of RAM, I`d be inclined to a 4 weekly defrag.
