Aside from my main Vista PC, I have old PC running Linux with a 20Gb hard drive and also a spare 160GB SATA hard drive.
Any ideas how I could put these items to good use before I decide to chuck them?

Oh, I am making the assumption that, being fairly geeky, they'll have a Linux version... I haven't checked. Sorry if not.... or you could write your own....

Linux has all sorts of uses in addition to being a brilliant desktop PC.

You could configure it as a enterprise grade firewall, or as a home file server or even a web server to name but three.

What about a media centre?

Linux is only restricted by your imagination and the effort you are prepared to make to learn.
