My computer has been infected with a virus despite having an up to date AVG Virus Program running. Running an AVG check reveals 'no virus found' however, running a Symantec Norton check shows :-C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\BTmailcontrol.dll is infected with Dialer.GenericCan anyone please advise how to get rid of this problem?
If you are on broad band it cannot do anything. it's just a case of deleting it
Dialer.Generic. Uses a Modem to dial Premium rate numbersclick hereThis to my knowledge only affects Dial-Up modems not broadbandI think BTmailcontrol.dll is more likely be associated with your broadband provider (BT?) and should not be removed. Could be just a false alarm from Symantec.
Try another scanner and see if that finds anything.click hereI think
Are you with BT ? click here
Upload it to Virustotal, save scanning your entire computer over and over; click here
