Hello,

I am thinking of having the Dell Dell UltraSharp U2711 27 click here for details. (not necessarily from that shop but can't see it any less)

I will be having a gaming PC, with possibly Dual GTX 480's in SLI. What i would like to know is what sort of cable(s) will be needed for this monitor? - as i hear with its larger sibling the Dell 30", that you need a Dual-link adaptor (or something (to enable full resolution that is) as without you are stuck with 12920x1200 i gather

Also, what about the display ports? - will a sinlge cable from GFX to TFT work with this?, and then theres the HDMI. So i'm a little confusewd here!

Thanks for your help in advance!

If you buy this Dell UltraSharp U2711 monitor, you'll find a Dual-link DVI cable as well as a DisplayPort cable included in the package.( No HDMI thou)

If you intend to run GTX 480 then forget the DisplayPort because it has no such connection interface( rather disappointed myself as only ATI 5000 series support DisplayPort and I'm not a fan,BTW I'm running a Dell UltraSharp 3008WFP)

Don't bother with the HDMI, you'll be stuck with the 1920x1200 resolution only.

Thanks Retap888:)

So just ONE Dual-link cable required in an SLI set up? (and the same for a "possible" ATI set up (5970 tri-fired with 5870)

Re: the Dell 30008wfp, i was contemplating that model myself but there's been more than a few people complain about the input-lag, or response-time etc which put me off a little

Thanks

Yes, just ONE Dual-link cable needed, just make sure it's connected to the Primary card which is normally the top 1st one. FYI I'm running twin GTX295 in Qual-Sli with ONE Dual-link cable connecting to my 3008WFP.

I've been using the 30008wfp for more than 1½ year, honestly didn't experience any input-lag or response-time issue and I do play graphic intensive games as well as 3D animation & modelling programs.
