Whilst looking for my Delf 3L hiding place, with various on line Trojan scans, the latest one has come up with 8 Trojans, funny how they all come up with their own findings and cant fix them unless you buy the full program ?

The Trojans are allegedly ....

When i go to add and remove programs, Windows controlAd 0.12mb and Windows serveAd 0.11 mb are in the list.

Is it safe to delete them ?

I am always deeply suspicious of any 'free' program that detects a 'problem', but will only 'fix' it for a 'fee'.

It makes me suspicious that the 'problem' detected is not real, and is an attempt to 'part me from my money'.

It would not be too hard to write a program that 'found' problems that were not there. It then asks you to pay for a 'fix'. Once you have entered the 'activation code'(that you paid for) the program magically 'fixes' the problem.

I may be wrong, but it always maked me think 'con'. regardless of the actual program in question.

Thanks guys but i have, Adaware, Spybot, A squared, Spywareblaster, BHOdemon, AVG7, and have run Panda, Trend, and other online scans to no avail as they wont remove the virus`s.

Has anyone any idea what these programs are and where they came from ?

If no one else has them in XP, i expect it would be ok to delete them ?

Wow thats interesting reading.....thats what i have noticed myself using online scans....lol

Read grahams link ;-)

suggests that these are virus like test files, that are loaded to test your system, and are not in-themselves viruses.

Windows controlad and windows serve ad---both malware.Uninstall them and run the Kaspersky scanner(or microworld escan) again to see if the same results occur.

I would have thought that Adaware or one of your other scanners would have picked these up so I am wondering if the files are remnants from a "clean up" with one of those. If that is the case then the uninstall with add/remove programs might throw up an error. You will need to manually delete them in this case.

  john-232317 18:53 02 Jan 2005

That is the scan that has picked them up, none of the other programs have ;-)

I will try a delete on them now.
