WEP (64bit) or WPA

Never had to use wireless before as I only had one desktop computer, now we have purchased a laptop I have had to set it up on a new Thomson TG585v7 router. The question is as I was setting it up it got to the point of choosing the security for it and the programme pointed me to the WEP (64bit)(HEX) which I accepted. Looking at different threads most seem to say WPA should be the better options any comments would be welcomed please.

WEP is insecure so you should use WPA2 PSK
