Weird Excel issue

Ok. This is weird.... Either that or logical for a Greek... (Literally)

Open Excel 2007, Format a cell using Special, change where it says general to "00000000" (eight zeroes no quotes) enter some numbers, so that when upto 8 numbers are entered it preceeds the rest with zeroes upto eight characters... then go back into Cell formatting and it has changed to Special > Greek Locale and some writing I can't understand....

What's going on? Or is this normal?

I see what you mean (am using 2003 version).

000 gives you Chinese (Taiwan)
0000 - Portugese
00000 - English (US)
000000 - Chinese (PRC)

Don't know what is going on but it does still appear to give you the correct format.

Instead of Special use Custom, although this also sets Special to Greek Locale.

"Instead of Special use Custom, although this also sets Special to Greek Locale."

Tried that... Anyone know why this is happening? Or any ideas?

For now the formula is working so things are ok but just wondering what's going on in the minds of MS Excel techies....
