Weird behaviour of IE7

I run Win XP/SP2 with IE7,and Norton 2004 (updated); in the last few days the computer has been exhibiting weird behaviour.

At start up, Spycathcher, Windows Defender, Yahoo Widgets will all connect to the internet and update no problem.

But when I try to connect to my home page, or any other site via the IE shortcut, no joy. I get the error message that I am not connected to the internet. (The BT connection checks out fine, and my laptop, connects fine.)

The only way I can get to connect is to do a system restore, but after a couple of surfing sessions, the same happens again; so I suspect some files are going AWOL.

Anybody able to offer any solutions?

Your Norton has to be up-dated, or delete it and download AVG-Anti Virus, Its free and up to date.

Thanks.
IE7 is the default
Possibly is the Norton, but so far it seems to be running again.

Fingers crossed!
