Hi

Can someone help me with a problem please.

I have noticed that using certain websites (e.g click here) do not open in any of the three browsers I use-Chrome,FF3,IE7. Most websites open normally.

I use: XP, 1.5gig RAM; Intel pentium 4.

Having said that, there is no problems with my Laptop which is Vista.

The following are the error messages I get:

In Google Chrome:

Error 2 (net::ERR_FAILED): Unknown error

In Firefox3:

Connection Interrupted

The document contains no data.

The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.

In IE7:

Internet Explorer cannot display this page

Most likely causes:

you are not connected to the internet

the website is encountering a problem

there might be typing error in the address

Can someone shed light on what is going on and what to do about it?

If you go to your own link and look at the URL you will see why the page fails to open - there are two sequential URLs and the browser is confused by this. If you delete either, the other works as advertised.

A URL will normally consist of www.(NAME of SITE).country only once.

thanks john
i actually wrote the message in a way that it shows as two seperate webaddresses. but it shows as clubbed together. i did not type the webaddress as it shows in the link. i did type it as click here and the other website seperately in two seperate windows.
Any suggestions?

Just as a check, click on your BBC link in your most recent post (just above this one). Does it work OK?

No pineman, it doesnt work either.

A bit weird. I clicked on your second link using FF3 and it is fine. Have you changed any default settings? Check in View/Character Encoding and see what you ae set for - I use Unicode (UTF-8).

thanks guys. as i said these website work perfectly ok with my laptop which has vista and is connected to same network. The problem is only few specific websites. Not sure why.

The problem must be with the set up of your browser on your PC. Perhaps the answer would be to uninstall FF completely and do a clean install with default settings.

Certainly i will try anything. Do you think it will sort the problem out in my other browsers as well?
I will let you know what happened.
