I am wanting to host a website from home as an experiment

i have a server in my house and i am using a simple netgear wireless router. I would like to attach the broadband ip to the server so that it can broadcast the site onto it. I was wondering how would i go about doing this

but it's fraught with problems. Not the least of these is the fact that your machine will be vulnerable, as it will have to sit on a fixed IP address 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.

You'll be open to Denial of Service attacks, and all kinds of intrusion attempts, and without proper configuration and a good firewall your server will rapidly be out of business.

In addition, your broadband service agreement will almost certainly contain a clause prohibiting you from running a public-facing web server. If your site suddenly becomes popular you may be consuming more bandwidth than your ISP will accept, and they'll cut you off in your prime.

I suggest that you click here and have a good read before you start.
