Webcam won't work

Three days ago I installed for the first time a webcam which worked for about 10 minutes and then it worked on and off for two days and now there is nothing. Can't use it. Want to use it for Skype but can't. I've reconfigured Skype video several times, checked out the webcam and it's working OK, but can't send anything. The audio works perfectly. Any suggestions please?

It could be that the webcam is losing its Default setting for Skype.

Do you have other video devices such as a TV card? One of them is probably taking over the "Default" role.

Your webcam's control panel should have a Devices or similar Toolbar tab which will list the webcam model (and others devices trying to muscle in on the act); tick the webcam as the Default.
