Webcam communication software required

I need a reliable communication application to enable video communication between two or three members of our our family, using simple low-res webcams. I am aware that I could satisfy the need with MS messenger, but I have heard that it is prone to attack. Since the communication is only between three known PCs in different parts of the UK, it does not have to be a package in widespread use. It can be freeware or low-cost chargeable as long as it enables us to set up a video & audio link between 2 / 3 locations using broadband. (The lowest speed in use is 1MB/sec.) No graphic capability is required as it is simply so that grandchildren can see their grandparents.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Thanks, Tallboy

I use Skype, as mentioned by Quiet Life - it can be used in conference mode.

Thanks for the quick feedback everone. We'll give both Skype & Vidspeak (suggested by MarvintheAndroid) a try and see which works best for us.
