Web pages are taking forever to open and downloading updates are very slow.If I try to reboot after an update It either doesnt or takes an age to do.I have scanned for spyware & viruses.

Need more info on your system. OS? Internet connection type? ISP?
When did this start happening?
Have you installed anything just before this happened?
Have you tried a System Restore?

Check your actual speed as well. I also have 20 MB virgin media and it's actually nearer 5 MB most of the times I check it using the thinkbroadband.com speed check (it's never faster than 6). I'm thinking of downgrading to 8 MB so I pay for what I get.

Speed test.It will start as soon as you open it.Or disable all your add-ons and if it runs faster enable them again one at a time until you find the culprit.Or Tools.Internet Options.Advanced.and press re-set advanced settings.
