Web Cams for Dummies?

Silver surfer wants a web cam to keep in touch with family. Any makes to recommend? What software do I use? Any problems with cams and XP?

You can use MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger or Eyeball chat (which is good, download and register from the website) or any of the others that a Google search will throw up. You should get drivers supplied with whichever camera you buy, almost any will be as good as another (cheaper doesn't mean less good). Probably a good idea to check with the salesman about XP compatibility. I don't have XP.

a word of warning tho, webcams do sometimes clash with tv cards. dont really know why but its all to do with drivers i think
