Hi,does anyone know where I can get a free driver for my web cam.I have lost the cd and my pc crashed last week.I don't know the make of the camera.

You need to know the model of webcam - try downloading Belarc Advisor and running it - it should tell you the details of the cam

Presumably you have the webcam connected to the USB port? Can you copy and paste the list of items shown under Multimedia and also under Other Devices.

OK probably need a different approach. Try downloading DriverMax from:

click here

and once it is installed run a check online for driver updates. That should show your webcam under Imaging Devices, and also recommend the required driver.

Disconnect the webcam and then Reboot.

Plug it back in once the system is in use again and see if Windows is able to indicate Found New Hardware and Reinstall the drivers (if they are still available).

Normally you install a USB device's drivers and software before connecting the device.
