Wdows Vista Aero woes

If you are using Vista Beta 2 (5384) and you have an Intel 915GM/910GML graphics card, as a lot of people probably do, you will not be able to see the Vista Aero effects.

Aero is the fancy, glass-like transparent effects that Vista can apply to desktop windows.

I believe the minimum Intel chipset to support Aero is the 945GM.

In addition, if you are using a notebook that you bought off-the-shelf (i.e. you didn't build it yourself) you can't just upgrade your graphics card by going out and buying a new one, because the card is part of the motherboard and will be soldered onto it.

Hopefully, by the time Vista ships in 2007, Windows will have made the Aero effect compatabile with the lowly 915GM chipset.

The column on the far right (Features) lists the Pixel Shader (PS)which must be at least 2 and you need at least 128MB RAM on the card.
