Warning - phishing scam

  cowgirl66 09:08 11 Aug 2006

I just thought I'd pop by and tell all users of LloydsTSB online banking that there is a nasty phishing scam prevalent at the moment, sending ou t an email trying to get the user to verify account details on the bank's database. And of course, there is the nasty link buried in the text of the email.

Delete it please!

PS. clues for a phishing scam are, they don't address you by name, they call you 'Customer', and I had several spelling mistakes in mine! What a joke.

Forward the email to lloyda at this address [email protected]

It's been around for quite some time, along with similar e-mails for most of the other UK and, occasionally, US banks.

I've had dozens of these over the last two years, purporting to be from various banks and credit card companies - many of which I don't even use! They seem to have diminished a lot recently, though.

When someone is caught out by such a scam who is held responsible for the loss,is it the bank or the customer?

I have followed your advice, jimv.
