WARNING - New Microsoft Security Ststem

Can't see any mention of this to date but just to advise forumites I've just received an e-mail with the above title. It purports to be from microsoft.com with an installable attachment to rectify "critical errors in Windows OS libraries". Avast warns it's a potential virus which I would go along with due to the method of delivery. I'm sure most forumites would recognise this as such but just in case.........

Cheers ;-)

Many thanks for that info

MS don't send attachments for such 'fixes' - you were well advised to ignore it

MS do not release updates via email, so it is a virus. Always worthwhile informing new members of the forum such things like this, that the regulars take for granted.

No M/soft don't e-mail. But you could fall for it.

Yep, I got one this afternoon from [email protected] .com. Amateurish and obvious.
