A new upgrade to parts of AVG are causing some problems.

I fell for it because it was either take the offer or not receive another opportunity.

It is an add-on toolbar and IE8 allows it to be disabled.

Not much use unless you use Yahoo.

It is an add-on but the tools/manage add-ons option in IE8 does not allow a remove. Only enable/disable available.

Peter not sure if this way can remove it or not.

I have carried out a system restore and the AVG upgrade has been removed.

I've switched to Avast! after several hiccups with AVG. No complaints so far

If you don't want to use System Restore it can be uninstalled via the AVG website - No. 2307 in the LIST - click here
