Want to Partiton My Harddrive and Install Linux OS

  gcs_uk 15:40 24 Jan 2004

I have an emachines T2825 (not PC world but US version) with a 120gb harddrive running windows XP.

I want to partition say 20gb and install linux.
Yes all the adverts running on US television have restarted my interest in linux.

So whats the best way to partition my harddrive and is it possible to run linux alongside XP without any major problems.

Is there any software that anyone would recommend for partitioning my hard drive.

Partition Magic is probably the easiest and most well known partitioning software, and will partition your drive without any loss of data.

Remember, Linux uses a different disc format to Windows, therefore, it MUST be installed on it's own drive (Partition). Mandrake and Redhat offer you the chance to load a boot-loader, which will then give you the option to boot into either system, or you can choose to boot Linux from a floppy.
