Want to add TV.

  Derek 07:10 29 Sep 2006

I have a projector on its way (Sony PLV PX20)with the facility to accept a TV tuner stick into one of its USB sockets.
It also has the facility to accept a PC meaning that I could out a hard card into the PC and do it that way.

It has its own sound unit.

So what should I be looking for ?

I want to see Freeview as well as the usual five channels.
I have Broadband by NTL and thus cable TV too.
I would like to have HD obviously.

Any help from you experts would be most welcome.

Kindest regards.

Its on its way and will come with instructions to do this. But look at Sonys web site in the mean time and there should be an on-line manual.

Thank you Streetwork for such a quick reply but I apologies for not finishing my subject properly.

What I wanted to know was quite simply...what tuner should I buy.

Sorry about that and thanks again.

Kindest regards Derek.

With a Freeview USB TV tuner dongle/stick you can see all the five terrestial channels along with the other digital TV stations, plus numerous radio stations.

However, HD is out of the question for some considerable time yet as the analogue transmitters are only being gradually closed down over the next six years and region by region.

HD needs a great deal of bandwidth, which is not yet available.

You would also need a Freeview dongle/stick that would be compatible with HD.

There are various models available of these products including:

(look under TV Digital or Digital+Analogue external USB tuners)

Most other online retailers sell such products.

Enjoy it..:-)

I'm listening to Terry Wogan on BBC Radio2 at present via my internal Freeview PCI TV card - saves using up BB bandwidth...:-)
