volume indicator bars

The volume indicator bars along the bottom of my HP Vista PC screen have disappeared although the butttons still work , how do I get them back please

What make is your keyboard? Have you disabled any of the software for it?

hmmmmmm was there ever a program that ran in the system tray that has been disabled? Its just I know from my logitech keyboard you need to have a program running for the on screen text to work.

Have you checked for any Options/Preferences in Control Panel, Keyboard or Sound Settings?

Just to close this one, although windows told me the driver was ok HP advised me to download the original 2007 driver from their site and this did the trick...many thanks.
