Visual C++ Runtime Error

  Gibbons 09:28 10 Apr 2007

Hi. Fairly regularly when I try to access My Computer, My Pictures or other files stored in folders like these my computer gives me this message:

Visual C++ Runtime Error
Programme: C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE
abnormal programme termination

The screen then goes blank, a few seconds later returns to desktop but then repeats the message when I try to click on said folders.

I'm fairly sure it isn't a virus as I have scanned whole computer. Is there anyway to fix the problem without reinstalling whole OS?

Thanks, Tom.

Try this, if you have Google Toolbar installed, unistall it and reboot your system. If that doesn't work click here and follow the instruction from Nellie2

Visual C++ Runtime Error I had the same problem and tried various "solutions" for several days without success. There are numerous paid for programs which offer to fix the problem but I am sure if it could be fixed somebody would have a free solution. Gave up in the end and clean reinstalled everything. Hope you are luckier !
