vista to xp wireless wpa 2 compatibility

Long story short.
Is WPA2-PSK(Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 with Pre-Shared Key)
compatible with xp?
Reason i ask is....
Lost wireless connection on xp pc connected wirelessly to my vista pc and Netgear wireless router.
Now after 2 days of head banging all ok.
Seems to boil down to changing my password on both pc's(even though 100% correct on xp pc and still not connecting with security disabled)
Or changing security from
WPA2-PSK(Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 with Pre-Shared Key)
down to the lesser
WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key)
