Vista to XP Network file access

  Old_Nick 15:55 31 Aug 2009

I have a laptop running on Vista Home Premium networked to a Desktop running on XP SP3.

The network connects OK and diplays the shared folders, but when trying to display files, I receive the following message

"Your comptername\file name is not accessable. You might not have permission to use this net work resource. Contact the administator of the server to find out if you have access permissiom."

The network used to work, obviously something has changed, but I know not what.
I switch off the firewall on both machines without effect.
I have now changed from Commodo firewall to PcTools again without effect.

Any ideas please

Thanks to Ambra4, but configeration already as outlined. I did change both Work Group names, but made no difference.

It looks as if permissions Access is the problem, but cannot find any way of viewing the current settings. In file sharing there is not security tab. The OS is XP Home premium, perhaps this feature is only available in Professional?
Any other ideas please?

The problem is due to Norton once being installed, but no longer in use.
