i have vista premium atm

ive just read that xp sp3 is comming out and can be twice as fast as vista,

so vista is going as i like my laptop for games, its always spinning my hard drive aswell

is it worth having both or just completely remove vista?

Before you go any further I suggest you check that there are XP drivers for your laptop. If there isn't then theres nothing you can do and you will have to stay with Vista.
Theres various threads about dual booting and I'm sure you can have a look for them. I would suggest that XP won't be twice as fast as Vista, it will be faster but I'm thinking something like 20% not 100%.
Can you provide a link to where you read this as I did not know there was going to be an SP3 for XP.

Its a dell xps laptop so i know there are drivers for it, newer ones intact

Will a dual boot take up much extra space compared to a single one

Dual boot will take up twice the space as you have 2 operating systems. Thought the XP one should be smaller than the Vista one.

is there a way that i can make an xp partition which is not quite all the hard drive and then leave the other part unspecified so that i can either expand the xp one or add vista later?
