vista to xp?

  AL47 22:40 19 Nov 2007

im thinking of doing it cause vista is annoying me more and more.

it wont let me delete certain things,
when i play games it starts to slow down sooner than my old laptop
i cant get a graphics driver newer than February
my old antivirus doesnt work
the working light is almost constantly going

so is it worth going backwards?

Sounds like Vista is too much for your machine what specs has it got? I went back to xp from Vista business and I've never regreted it since.

xps m1710,
t7600g core 2 duo @ 2.83ghz
3.3gb ram
nvidia 7950 gtx 512mb
160gb 7200rpm 8mb hdd

Ok maybe not with those specs! There is a lot of background processes with Vista so they could be causing the slow down and Microsoft revamped the way windows handles graphics with Vista which could be the problem your having with your games. For me at the minute xp is very hard to beat. With the release of service pack 1 for Vista things should get better so it could be in your best interest for you to sit tight for the minute and see how things go.

how long away is that? it is frustrating knowing id get more with xp

Think its scheduled for early 2008 the beta is out for testing at the moment. Its promising better compatibilty and performance so if I was you I would wait and see and keep watching for news on the service pack before deciding on a move. Which game are you trying to run?

well cnc3,
it runs fine for the most part but when the game gets busy, it drags a bit
