Vista Sp1

I installed Vista SP1 & my Maxtor External Drive could not be accessed & I had a pop-up " HP product Assistant Required" I eventually uninstalled Vista SP1 & everything returned to normal.
Has anyone else had this experience & are we going to have Vista SP1 automatically downloaded ?

sounds like one of the many reasons for leaving vista alone?

Actually it sounds like Quinlan decided to download and install rather than waiting for it to be offered by automatic updates?

It will be offered when drivers are produced for things like external hardware which will be offered first then the SP1.

A sensible approach by MS and a reason to adopt rather than the reverse.

As anskyber says, it sounds as though you downloaded it. When your system tells you it is ready to download you will have no problems. MS have gone out of their way to try and dissuade users from using the big download explaining that not all drivers were in place.

point taken but one still has the right of choice?
