Vista reboot problem (Zone Alarm, AVG)

I am having a problem with a couple of programs running on Vista in terms of rebooting.

AVG keeps saying "Update requires restart", but no matter how many times I do this, it still keeps coming up. I do not hibernate my PC, so it's always a clean restart.

Also, Zone Alarm has started showing the "Security Options" screen every time the PC boots (the one with the "Show me more", "No Thank You" option).I have press "No Thank You" every time, but it always appears on reboot.

Any ideas how I can solve these problems? It's almost as if Vista is not doing a clean restart for some reason.

On ZoneAlarm is there not a box to tick saying "Don't Show This Again" or some such thing.
