I am looking to buy a new laptop with vista on but im told that my student edition of office wont work unless its 2007 edition

is this information correct what im being told

Not sure, but I bought a new laptop about 3 months ago, and I couldn't get Office XP Pro 2003 to work and had to buy Office 2007 (I preferred the 2003 version)

Office PRO 2003 works perfectly with Vista.

PC World have been advising their customers that they need Office 2007 for Vista and there has been a thread on this forum about it.

If rawprawn couldn't get it working it certainly wasn't (or shouldn't have been) as a result of having Vista.

I agree with Pine Man. I bought a new Toshiba laptop running Vista Home Premium from PC World on Monday and I've got my old Office XP Pro installed and running fine on it.

Yep, I'm running 2003 Pro with Vista. No problems at all.

Also have Office 2002 (XP) on a Vista laptop. That runs fine as well.

Also running student edition 2003 with Vista.

No problem

Try as I may, I couldn't load it.It loaded, but then wouldn't work. Perhaps I will give it another go!

I certainly would - there is nothing about vista that should interfere with it's correct operation.
