Visa Debit & iTunes?

  SirMetal 19:43 28 Oct 2010

I have just tried creating a new account on iTunes as I plan to buy myself an iPod classic soon. All was going well until I had to enter my card details.

It gives you a selection of cards, so I chose Visa. I then proceeded to enter my details (card number, security code & expiry date.)

When I press continue, it keeps declining my card number, saying it's "not a valid payment card number".

I have triple checked that all of the details are correct.

Any ideas? It's rather infuriating!

Thanks in advance.

did you specify correct card type? ie credit and not debit

Go with johnnyrocker's suggest. Make sure all of the details are correct.

The other question. Was the website 'locked' for safe and secure payment?.

Remember to enter the card number without spaces.

Once, when buying something, I entered the number as written on the card, (with spaces), and received a similar message.

I agree with 'anchor' I use a Visa debit card without any problems.

It's a bit of extra hassle, but why not just set up a Paypal account? I've got the same sort of card, and I use ITunes with Paypal without any trouble.
